Final Project Proposal

One thing that I have really enjoyed about my time in the IDT department is that from time to time I am exposed to new software that I find to be really interesting and worth sharing with others. The best of these software examples makes me think, "Boy, I wish I would have know about this last semester because I would have used it for communicating during the big group project" or "This software could have really given my presentation some eye popping visuals to grab my learner's attention". Some examples of the software that I been exposed to at WIU include; Google Docs, pbworks, and Prezi. Thanks to Dr. West's IDT 516 class I have another cool new software to add to my collection.....Piktochart.

I think that Piktochart is easy to learn, provides eye popping graphic design and a lot of computer users might be interested in using it if they were exposed to it. So that leads me to the final project. I would like to create a tutorial on how to use Piktochart. I will explain what it is, what it can do and how to use it. I will provide learning goals and measure those goals using assessment criteria. I will use a web 2.0 medium to create step-by-step instruction and solicit feedback and encourage dialog amongst learners.

Quite frankly I think that Piktochart is a great software and that a lot of people might choose to use it if they were aware of it and had a little instruction along the way.

  1. Matt,
I, too, found Piktochart a great tool. It was easy to learn and the end product was really slick! What a great way for students to visually express themselves. I look forward to reading about the progress of your project.

  2. Piktochart is a great Web 2.0 tool. I assume you will have your learners actually create infographics as part of the learning activity.

    1. Yes! I should have included more information, but I will have the learners choose a topic that interests them, provide a tutorial and demonstration, provide them learning goals and a rubric and have them create a piktochart and share it with me.

  3. I'm so glad that I found Piktochart in this class! I love it and I almost considered using it as Web 2.0 tool as well.
